Bio
Dr. Nowak received his MD degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1975. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals and fellowship in Gastroenterology-Hepatology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He has served on the medical faculties of the University of Rochester, The Medical College of Wisconsin and is currently Professor of Clinical Medicine at Indiana University. He is a recipient of the Rochester Society of Internal Medicine Award.
Dr. Nowak’s research focuses in the neural and endocrine controls that regulate gastrointestinal motility. His research has received funding from the Rochester chapter of the American Diabetes Association, the Veterans’ Administration, the American Diabetes Association and the National Institutes of Health. He has been a consultant to and received research funding from Medtronic Corporation and Eli Lilly and Company.
Dr. Nowak currently treats patients with idiopathic and diabetic form of gastroparesis and is currently pursing collaborative studies of gastroparesis with the Bioengineering Department of Purdue University.
