Bio CV Accomplishments

Biographical Summary:

Dr. Groh graduated Summa Cum Laude with an undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering at Marquette University and received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Alpha Omega Alpha/Medical Honor Society.)

Dr. Groh has been a clinician, researcher and teacher at the Indiana University School of Medicine since 1996. He provides care to patients with all aspects of cardiovascular disease but specializes in evaluating and treating those patients with severe arrhythmia problems. He is director of the pacemaker and implanted defibrillator clinic at the Krannert Institute and has gained expertise both in implantation and follow-up of pacemakers and defibrillators.

Dr. Groh's research interests include all aspects of arrhythmia diagnosis and management but he has a special interest in the treatment of life-threatening arrhythmias responsible for sudden death. He has been instrumental in developing programs to improve survival for Indiana citizens suffering an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and has studied the implementation of automated external defibrillator therapy by law enforcement officers and brought public access defibrillation programs to Indiana. Dr. Groh also assisted the Indiana Legislature in writing and passing the automated external defibrillator us Good Samaritan law, assuring that responders using defibrillators are properly trained and protected.
