- Dr. William Groh's work on myotonic dystrophy published in June 19th issue of The New England Journal of Medicine
Myotonic dystrophy is a common form of muscle disease in adults. This disease is associated with heart rhythm disorders and sudden death. In this New England Journal Article, Dr Groh's research group showed that certain electrocardiographic features can predict the occurrence of sudden death. These findings are important in the understanding of the mechanisms of sudden death, and may help the physicians take better care of patients affected by this disease. - PBS' "The Mysterious Human Heart"
The Spark of Life (Episode 2) featuring Drs. Zipes and Miller looks at the electrical mechanisms that keep a heart beating regularly and efficiently - and what happens when this most essential rhythm of life goes awry. It explores the heart's electrical rhythm - from its most basic functions to its cellular underpinnings - through the experiences of patients, families and physicians facing life-altering decisions.
Featured are Kevin Oill, an 18 year-old college freshman in New York State, Susan Arvin, age 42, an electrical engineer and mother of three boys in Indiana, and a 50 year old Brazilian cowboy whose heart is in electrical chaos. - Krannert, along with Clarian Health Partners, is ranked as one of America's Best Hospitals for 2007
- Indianapolis Monthly's Top Doctors for Cardiovascular Disease
Two Krannert faculty members are listed in the November issue of Indianapolis Monthly Magazine as best in their field. Dr. Eric Williams and Dr. Elisabeth von der Lohe were chosen by their peers in answer to the question, "Whom would you call if someone in your family needed a doctor?"
