As the only medical school in the state of Indiana, our commitment to education is second to none. The environment is ripe for learning with an unparalleled dedication to the teaching of students, residents and fellows. Almost every rotation provides an opportunity to learn from others and to expand your teaching skills armamentarium.
Upper level residents play such an important role in teaching interns and students, that we provide a two-day retreat at an Indiana lake resort hotel for all PGY-2 residents to learn how to teach. National experts in clinical teaching facilitate the workshops during the retreat so that every resident is trained in the art of clinical teaching, giving effective feedback, and motivating learners.
For applicants who are interested in teaching or may be considering an academic career, the IU program will teach you how to teach. The entire culture at IU is one of intellectual curiosity, scholarship and discovery.
