Diagnostic Echocardiography

The Indiana University / Krannert Institute Echocardiographic Laboratory continues to be one of the world's leaders and pioneers in the latest advances in the field. Besides providing routine transthoracic, transesophageal and stress echocardiography, there are also newer techniques including three dimensional echocardiography and strain and strain rate imaging being explored for their clinical usefulness. Stress echocardiography is one of the many techniques first developed at Indiana University. This type of examination represents a high percentage of all the echocardiograms done on the Indiana University Medical Center campus. We perform treadmill and bicycle stress echocardiography as well as pharmacologic dobutamine or dopamine stress echocardiography. The IU/Krannert cardiology experts in echocardiography interpret echocardiograms from seven different institutions including University Hospital, Veteran's Hospital, Wishard Hospital and multiple IU Health hospitals.
